Details of Gov Amaechi's Broadcast on Ebola in Rivers State

My dear people of Rivers State, we woke up this morning to the sad confirmation that the dreaded Ebola virus disease has claimed its first victim in Rivers State.

Dr. Iyke Sam Enemuo died last Friday, August 22, 2014 as a result of what was suspected to be ebola virus disease. The State Ministry of Health on becoming aware of the conditions of his death, immediately commenced investigations and contact tracing. As at today, about one hundred contacts from a hotel, patients of Dr. Enemuo and patients of the hospital where the late Enemuo was treated until his demise have been identified and restricted. The different locations are being decontaminated.

The Man who took Ebola to Port Harcourt Faces Manslaughter

Some people are so callous, and this man is one of such people. How can you lodge in an hotel when you know that you have contracted Ebola? The Nigerian diplomat attached to ECOWAS, Olubukun Koye who had escaped from quarantine in Lagos after testing positive to Ebola virus and travelled to Port Harcourt for treatment, an action that resulted in the death of the doctor who treated him (Iyke Enemuo) and putting several others in danger may face manslaughter charges.

This is coming on the heels of report that the number of persons under surveillance in the state for Ebola Virus Disease has increased from 100 to about 160.
Sources told Thisday that the issue of Mr Koye (a primary contact with the late Partick Sawyer) who defied instruction not to leave Lagos after being placed in the isolation unit, was discussed at FEC meeting in Abuja on Wednesday and that the Minister of Justice and Attorney General of the Federation, Mohammed Adoki was directed to look into the Nigerian laws and see how he could be sanctioned for his reckless action that has now put the lives of many Nigerians in danger.

Wife of Doctor who Died in Rivers Has Tested Positive to Ebola

Just imagine the big problem Patrick Sawyer has brought to Nigeria. How sad! The wife Dr Iyke Enemuo, who died in Port Harcourt last week Friday after treating a diplomat who had contact with the primary contact, Mr Patrick Sawyer, has tested positive to the Ebola virus disease.

Rivers State commissioner for health Dr Sampson Parker said the widow of Dr Enemuo had been flown to Lagos for treatment where the National Treatment Centre for the Ebola virus is located, since the test of the result conducted on her indicated positive.

As at the last check we gathered that the Federal Government has not given Lagos State any money from the released funds to fight Ebola, yet Lagos is championing the fight. Kudos to Governor Babatunde Fashola and his team for a job well done, so far.

Today, millions of Nigerians are at the mercy of Boko Haram and it is becoming clearer that our security agencies might not be equal to the task, in terms of fire-power,

5yr old girl sustains horrific injuries after being allegedly attacked in school

5 year old AvaLynn was nearly disfigured when she was allegedly attacked by another pupil at her Elementary school in Mississippi this week. The most bizarre thing about this story is that the school is maintaining that she was not attacked, rather she got the horrific injuries in an accident while playing on the playground. Makes no sense. This looks more like a vicious attack to me.

Her mother and other relatives have opened a Facebook page for the young girl to tell what happened to her and share photos of her injuries, while seeking for justice. Below is what they wrote on the Facebook page about the incident...
"On Tuesday, August 26, 2014, Lacey Harris was called go come pick up her daughter at Arlington Elementary School in Pascagoula, Mississippi, because AvaLynn had been injured in an accident. The sight Lacey found when she got to Ava's school was a parents' nightmare: her face swollen, cut, and bruised beyond recognition." Continue...
